Andrew Musgrave made another career best as he finished 12th place in the Skiathlon at the Nordic World Championships in Falun, Sweden. He will next compete in the 15km Freestyle on Wednesday alongside teammate Andrew Young. Following Wednesday's event, Muzzy will compete in the 50km Classic on Sunday, the final event of the Championships where he will be aiming to match or better his result from the weekend. The British Nordic Ladies, Posy Musgrave and Sarah Hale, finished 16th in the Ladies Team Sprint in a field of 19 duos from across the globe. Posy will go on to compete in tomorrow's 10km Freestyle event which will be her last race of the Championships. ...
In Jaun, Switzerland, Dave Ryding took two 8th places in the Europa Cup Slalom over the weekend as they raced on both Saturday and Sunday.. Unfortunately Ryding's teammate Alexandra Tilley missed the top 30 cut on Saturday in the World Cup GS in Maribor, and had a DNF in the first run in the Slalom. Tilley now heads to the Ladies Europa Cup Slalom and Giant Slalom Finals in Monte Pora, Italy, where she will compete alongside Charlie Guest and Natalia Harte in the GS which takes place on Thursday, and then both Charlie and Alex will compete in the Slalom on Friday.
In Los Angeles at the Air + Style contest, James Woods competed in the debut of the freeski at the world-renowned competition, and finished 12th in the first round. Due to weather, the ski finals couldn't run, so the round one result was used as the final result. This was after Billy Morgan unfortunately picked up an injury in training ahead of the Snowboard contest, so couldn't ride in the main competition.
In the Ski Cross World Cup in Tegernsee, Germany, Pamela Thorburn had her best result of the season yesterday, making it through to the finals and finishing in 15th position. This was after a 19th place on Saturday. Liz Stevenson finished 21st and 19th in the two races, securing her invite to the World Cup Finals in Megeve in March
This week sees the start of the Telemark World Championships in Steamboat Springs, USA. Tomorrow our two British competitors, Jaz Taylor and Sion Bingham start their schedule in the Sprint Classic. Both athletes will be competing in all events.
For the GB Park and Pipe Team over in Park City, the action kicks off on Wednesday with Ski Halfpipe qualifiers as Murray Buchan and James Machon represent in the Men's competition and Rowan Cheshire in the Ladies. Finals of the Ski Halfpipe will be held on Saturday 28th. Ski Slopestyle qualis are on Thursday with James Woods, Katie Summerhayes and Isabel Atkin battling it out for a spot in the finals on Friday 27th. GBR's Snowboard Slopestyle athletes, Jamie Nicholls, Rowan Coultas and Aimee Fuller also have qualifiers on Wednesday as they compete hoping for a spot in the final on Friday 27th. Unfortunately Billy Morgan will not compete after his injury sustained during training at Air + Style at the weekend.
