Delancey British National Alpine Ski Championships move to Tignes for 2015

The Delancey British National Alpine Ski Championships will take place in Tignes, France from Sunday 22 March to Friday 3 April 2015. This follows a move from Méribel where the Championships were held for 10 years. ...

This exciting move will see the Senior, Junior and Children's National Championships take place at the Stade Olympiques de Lognan in Val Claret, Tignes' highest village, which is accessed from the Tichot lift (or the Grattalu lift).

Tignes has stamped its mark as one of the world's leading resorts for major events and the resort has unrivalled experience in hosting ski competitions and championships. It also boasts high altitude skiing with the base of the race piste used for the Championships situated at 2100m.

Dave Edwards, Chief Executive of British Ski and Snowboard said of the move: “After 10 very successful years of hosting the British National Alpine Championships in Méribel, we are really excited about our move to Tignes. We would like to thank Méribel for their support in helping make the Championships a must-attend event, but we felt the Championships were ready for a change and to give another world class resort the chance to do our Championships proud.

“Tignes offers a slick events team and an excellent race piste at high altitude. We are also delighted that the Championships will continue to be supported by Delancey and long term supporter of British snowsports, Sir John Ritblat.”

Jamie Ritblat, Founder and CEO of Delancey said: “As Principal Sponsor of British Ski and Snowboard we are delighted to bring the Delancey British National Alpine Ski Championships to Tignes in 2015.

“We are immensely grateful to Meribel for ensuring that the Championships has continued to be the biggest event on the British Alpine ski racing calendar and look forward to Tignes enhancing this reputation even further - providing an exciting new platform to showcase the best athletes in Alpine Skiing.”

The Mayor of Tignes, Jean-Christophe Vitale said:  “Following on from Méribel, Tignes is pleased to host the British Alpine Ski Championships from 22nd March 2015. You can be rest assured that the resort will do its utmost to give a warm welcome to all the participants of this exciting event.

“On the technical side we will ensure optimal piste conditions and endeavor to satisfy all requirements for top class racing. We look forward to collaborating with the Delancey British National Alpine Ski Championships.”

For competitors and spectators there will be accommodation deals on offer, with deals starting from 350 Euro per person based on a studio for 4 people. Bookings can be made through Tignes Developpement central booking office: groups@tignes.net
