Have you ever considered volunteering as a Race Official but are concerned you don't know enough about it?
Now is your chance to put that right. ...Â
Ski races need a great many people in order to run efficiently and fairly. We need your help and it is much more fun to be involved rather than to just stand and watch.
During the British Championships in MeÌribel we are running some classroom based training courses to help you understand the rules and responsibilities of Race Officials' and these will be followed by an opportunity to put into practice what you have learnt, during the events at the U16 and U14 British Championships and the U12 and U10 BARSC races. This should eventually lead to a recognised qualification.
The courses will be held in the Espace Olympic in the afternoons of Sunday 6th and Monday 7th April. The exact timings will depend on the race programme. Numbers are limited so please book in advance if at all possible. There is a charge per person of £10 to cover costs.
Please apply to Susie Berry with your email address and mobile contact number in MeÌribel.

The syllabus will consist of a basic explanation of the rules of racing and the duties of the various officials needed to run a race. Examples of the paperwork involved will be available together with a PowerPoint presentation and some films of competitions. Regardless of whether you intend to collect bibs, be a Start Marshall, Gate Judge or Referee, we think you will find it entertaining and fun as well as instructive. Please come and join us and by doing so help to run races both now and in the future. We really need you and so does the future of British Alpine racing.
