On Friday 28th November the 2014/15 FIS Telemark World Cup kicked off in Hintertux, Austria with a Telemark Sprint race. Representing Great Britain was seasoned World Cup racer and silver medallist, Jasmin Taylor, and Louis Hatchwell - who joined the British Development Team in January. ...
The soft conditions and bad visibility made for a tough opening race however Jasmin had two good runs which put her in 4th position, just seconds away from the leader Amelie Raymond of Switzerland. This is a very positive result and personal best for Jasmin in the Sprint discipline. Louis struggled and with a small fall on his first run, skied into 35th position.
Saturday saw similar, challenging conditions for all the athletes. Jasmin took a creditable 7th place and Louis finished in 31st.
Finishing yesterday with telemark's newest and most exciting discipline, the Parallel Sprint - there was no shortage of thrills and spills! FIS Telemark Chairman, Andrew Clarke, commented: “Sadly Britain's Jasmin Taylor came out in the 1/4 finals against Johanna Holzmann from Germany with a fall and DSQ. However it was a fantastic race that eventually saw Switzerland's Amélie Reymond and Germany's Tobi Müller finish on top.
Following the races, Jasmin said: “It feels like a solid start to the season and it's really motivating to have a clear set of results to work from. I'm looking forward to everything that is to come!”
