Rose McGrandle clocked up her third consecutive podium at skeleton's Inter-Continental Cup level with a second-place finish in Konigssee, Germany, today. ...
The 27-year old from Milton Keynes completed her two runs in an overall time of 1:46.60 (53.28 and 53.32). Her teammate, Donna Creighton, finished in eighth place as she completed her two runs in 1:48.49.
After today's race, McGrandle said: “ Wow. I'm really pleased to be on the podium here in Königssee again. It's a challenging track, and although my second heat today wasn't as good as my first, overall it was a consistent performance, and I can take away a lot of confidence from that”.
David Swift and Ed Smith also recorded top-10 finishes in their races, with Swift taking seventh (1:43.81) and Smith finishing in ninth (1:44.52), as both produced two consistent runs each.
Swift said: “After a disappointing race yesterday, today was a big improvement. I wanted to relax, concentrate on my performance and enjoy the sliding, and it made a big difference. I'll aim to carry that mindset on to Winterberg next week”.
ICC Coach, Chris Type, also commented on today's racing in Königssee, saying: “There were a lot of positives to take today from the entire squad, which will put them in a good position for the next few races. Another strong performance from Rose, and a strong, consistent performance from Swifty [Dave Swfit] which will set him up well for next week in Winterberg”.
Both squads will now travel to Winterberg in Germany for the next ICC & EC events. The next Intercontinental Cup competition will decide who takes the final World Cup spots in the women's & men's squads, out of McGrandle, Creighton, Swift & Smith.
