Shred / Slytech athlete & co-founder Ted Ligety laid down a near flawless run in Schladming, Austria, on Wednesday to record his first Super-G win; and in doing so becoming the discipline's World Champion.
In what can only be described as the perfect preparation for the defence of his Giant Slalom crown next week, Ted, wearing the brand new Stupefy “Tri” goggles, featuring oversized spherical lenses with Shred proprietary NO DISTORTIONÂ technology, won in a time of one minute 23.96 seconds.
Trailing eventual silver medallist Gauthier De Tessieres by 0.41 at the first time check, Ted reduced the deficit to 0.06 in the next 30 seconds, and with a mix of super clean skiing and risk taking beat the Frenchman in the bottom section. Still, Ted had to wait for 10 more riders to cross the line before being able to celebrate clinching the Gold.
“It's wonderful. I can't believe it,” said the new World Champ "It was awesome to debut the Stupefy today and then win. The massive field of view lets you charge with unobstructed vision. That was super important on a day like today with flat light and tough snow conditions." Shred is to date the most successful Helmet and Goggle combo in the 2012-2013 ski race World Cup.
Built by and for athletes, Slytech's new BACKPRO XT Naked, FortressRace Mitts & Assault Armguards along with Shred's Mega Brain Bucket “Tri” helmet also played a key role in getting Ted over the finish line in record time. The helmet, the choice for a host of top Ski Federations, Backpro back protector and revolutionary SLYTECH 2ND SKiNTM inside, offering intelligent protection that can naturally recover from a series of impacts.
Shred / Slytech products are widely available online and in specialty retailers worldwide. Shred / Slytech would also like to wish Ted the best of luck in his World Championships medal quest and the climb up the FIS world cup standings.
