In the Summer, Spirit FM, the local radio station for rising talent of the GB Children's team, Yasmin Cooper, were running The Local Heroes Community Awards and members of the public put Yasmin's name forward for the Youth Achievement award.  Spirit FM chose Yasmin for her dedication and achievements in skiing and for her motivation to fitness and school work.  The award was presented at a black tie event held at The Avisford Hilton at the end of October where she was awarded a cheque for £200 by special guest Matt Cardle.  The cheque was to be presented to a charity of her choice, of which Yasmin chose The Skiers Trust Of Great Britain and The Chichester Youth Wing Canoe and Kayake Club, each receiving £100 each.  It was an amazing evening and Yasmin felt privileged to have been among our local community's true heroes.
Cooper who trains and races for the British Ski Academy in Les Houches, France during the winter is one of the brightest talents in the UK and placed 9th in the Trofeo Topolino in 2011. The Trofeo Topolino is considered to be the top International Children's race and many past winners have gone on to compete at the World Cup.
