The British Men's Speed team had mixed results at the double Giant Slalom races at Copper Mountain (12 Nov). While TJ Baldwin placed 9th and 13th in the two races, Dougie Crawford had two DNF's. Crawford posted after the races on Facebook that "Disappointing double DNF yesterday. Fell over first race and got kicked out by a rut in the 2nd. Not the start to the season I had hope for, but I know I'm skiing well so got to stay positive."
With the two racers benefiting from training with the American Team this season, much is hoped for the two. The two will tailor their programme to suit their needs and will be able to spend time with both the American World Cup team, Ligety, Miller et al, and then will also spend time with the Nor-Am team so that they can benefit from the American onslope support at races in North America. It is a set up that helps both sides as it means that the Americans get another coach on the hill while the British guys get the valuable benefit of the expertise of the American Team.
If you would like to support these two in their funding issues for the winter, contact either Dougie or TJ and buy a raffle ticket from them. Top prize is a Win an all Inclusive ski holiday for two at Banff/Lake Louise for £10 and they have lots of other great prizes as well.
American Tim Jitloff won both races in Copper Mountain.
