Monday 10th March

Morning we got up at 7:00am and were downstairs, ready for skiing at 8:15. There was a blizzard outside it was snowing heavily. We got a public bus to the slopes. We were training on a slalom course on the run signal, beside the race piste. We shared our course with Switzerland and Germany. We trained until 11:00 and headed up to the top of the hill for our lunch. We had green beans and chicken. At 2:00pm we all got on a bus and drove down to Grenoble where the opening ceremony was taking place. We were welcomed by local primary children and after we paraded around the stadium with our National flag. We arrived back at Alpe D’Huez at 10:30 and went straight to bed.

Tuesday 11th March

We trained in the morning, finished at 11am and had pizza for lunch.

Night slalom – The weather was terrible, cold, snowy, windy, and really wet. Although one of our strongest team member  (Charlie Guest) was really ill, and hadn’t trained in a couple of days, we still managed to come 2nd on the world in slalom, beaten by France.

Wednesday 12th March

Trained Giant Slalom gated on the run ‘Signal’. Everyone was skiing really well, so we are hoping for good results on Thursday. We went up the bubble to the top of the hill for lunch. We had spaghetti bolognaise!  At 2:00pm, we went to the Palais du Sport to go rock climbing. Then it was dinner at 7:00pm.

Thursday 13th March

We had the Giant Slalom race today. It was on the run ‘Signal’. It was really sunny and warm. It was really close between England and Scotland for the overall positions. We think Scotland just had the edge. At 4:00 we all headed down to the Palais du Sport for the prize giving and the closing ceremony. Scotland came 2nd overall (Younger Girls), England 3rd and France 1st.
