Denise Karbon at the top.

 

Eleven years after triple Olympic Champion Deborah Compagnoni, another Italian woman clinched the giant slalom World Cup title this winter -  27-year-old Denise Karbon, who won five out of seven giant slalom races this season.

 

The charming skier from Castelrotto, nearby Val Gardena, has been for years an established giant slalom expert after capturing a silver medal at the 2001 World Championships at St Anton and then winning the treacherous Alta Badia race in December 2003.
