Jo Ryding continued her dominance of the plastic slopes with her victory in the Welsh National.  With Victory in the All England and Grand Prix Series she has now added the Welsh National Title to her trophy cabinet this summer.  The only blip on the season so far being the error on the Wall at the Scottish Championships!  While the rain may have dampened the atmosphere slightly for those watching, Ryding and Georgie Hunt, who won the men's race, kept spirits high and the attention focused on the racing.  A disappointing first run by Antony Heaversedge saw him pull out an immense second run to rise to second overall.

While Jayme Baggio has so often picked up the pieces when Ryding has failed, Baggio was left stunned by Franki Simonds who skied at her best to take second behind Ryding on both runs.  No disrespect to Baggio but Simonds showed the form that many knew she had but had failed to show prior to these races.  Putting two quality runs together on the same day has been a problem for the Wycombe skier until this race.  If she can show this form on snow, her contemporaries will be facing a very formidable race, providing her back holds out.  Simonds took her chances and finished comfortably ahead of Baggio and the rest.  Gemma Harris, making a rare appearance on the plastic slopes this summer, took fourth ahead of Rachel Adcock in fifth.

In the guys race, Heaversedge's destruction of the second run saw him take fastest time of the second run to lift him ahead of Marc Telling and David Hatcher who had been separated by a mere 0.01 seconds after the first run.  Pete Thelwell had been a further hundredth back from Hatcher yet was not able to replicate the form on the second run and slid down the results.  Craig Ruddick recaptured some of the form he has shown this season to take fifth overall, ahead of Thelwell and Dan Wyatt.  With Hatcher taking fourth, Marc Telling took third.

The age groups were won as follows:

Children 1 saw Alessia Thomas Jackson take the spoils ahead of Jeni Thomas and Shannon Taylor in the girls. Ashley Richards upheld Welsh honour in taking the top spot in the boys age group ahead of Richard Leeson and Christopher Crane.

Jayme Baggio took top spot in the girls Children 2 ahead of Danielle Polley and Kirsty Hatcher. Andrew Watson took the boys age group ahead of Greg Straw and Blair Laidlaw.  Watson winning for Wales ahead of England's Straw and Scotland's Laidlaw! A truly international flavour!

Junior 1 saw a win for Franki Simonds ahead of Lauren Cadmen and Abby Clifford.  Andy Roose took the age group spoils in the men's race ahead of Richard Luxton and Alex Jeal.

Jo Ryding added the Junior 2 spoils to her overall victory with Gemma Harris and Rachel Adcock taking second and third.  Antony Heaversedge topped the results in the J2 age group with Dan Wyatt in second.  Hugh Wilson took third.

The Senior age group was won by Lindsey Allen ahead of Lucy Newman.  The Masters was won by Janet Earnshaw Hamilton ahead of Caroline Simonds! In the Seniors race, six of the top eight finishers came from the seniors in the men's race.  Hunt, Telling and Hatcher took the top three places in the age group with 12 seniors finishing the race as well as 6 Masters.  Carl Ryding upheld family honour with victory ahead of his trainee Colin Tee and James Roberts.  Ryding went as far as to threaten his trainee with removal from his training group if he had the audacity to come so close to the coach again!

Steph Davies won the mini girls race ahead of Sophie Simonds and Sam Maurice with Ashley Breese winning the boys race ahead of Mickey Knowles and Paul Henderson.

England A beat Wales A in the final of the duel slalom in the International knock out duel slalom.
