Choose any number of weeks between
the above dates. There will be accompanied travel
with Tom Laidlaw (FIS coach) on the following dates
July 18th London to
Melbourne and returning September 7th/8th Melbourne to London,
these dates will mean for most athletes that they will miss 2-3 days of
school at both ends of the travel dates. This camp will be 7 weeks.
We are currently awaiting quotes
and availability on flights for these dates, which will require a deposit of
£75 immediately and full payment 8 weeks before departure. If the accompanied dates do not
suit, then it is possible for you to make your own air travel arrangements
and we will meet, drop off and sign for athletes at Melbourne airport. Any
dates between June 28 – September 8th are ok, but we will have to
charge £50 transfer fee each way as it is a 6 hr round trip.
CH 1+2 athletes will be able to
compete in the Victorian Championships 4 x GS and 4 x SL, and if qualifying
criteria is met also National Championships 2 x SL and 2 x GS.
FIS athletes have the opportunity
to compete in National Champs FIS 2 x SL and 2 x GS, and also if qualifying
criteria is met ANC FIS 2 x SL and 2 x GS. If there is enough interest then
we plan to travel to New Zealand at the end of August to compete in FIS SG x
1, NC FIS GS x1, SL x 1 and ANC GS x1 and SL x 1 (there will be extra cost
for flight and some logistics in NZ)
Training will be at Falls Creek,
who supply our team with the best training facilities and have a very
extensive and effective snowmaking system. We will also use Mt Hotham which
is included in our season pass for free skiing, because of its varied
terrain.
There are gym and swimming
facilities in Bright, which will enable the team to continue their physical
preparation programs.
All athletes will stay in
Porepunkah at Pauline’s accommodation (our chef from this season) 2-4
persons per room with buffet breakfast and 2 course evening meal. The accom
is of a high standard and in the evening the team can all eat together
around one big table and we often have barbecues, it all makes for a good
atmosphere.

For
those athletes wishing to continue their training and development with ACRA
you can make a cost saving on this camp by purchasing our 10 week package at
£4000 and taking weeks not used in Australia, either for the Spring camp or
next season during the Autumn. The package price can be paid in 2
instalments if necessary (before first training) and this can be agreed by
email with Simon. |

Each day at the slope runs from
10am
to 6pm. The final hour consists of
ski prep, rollerblading and other non-skiing activities. About half the time
is spent skiing - technique drills and slalom courses. The rest is taken up
with video playback, and fitness - FUN games for agility and co-ordination,
plus some basic fitness tests. For most sessions, the trainees are divided
into groups according to ability. During the week, there are some fun races:
a team dual slalom, an individual dual slalom, and a timed slalom at the end
of the week.
Those from further afield may attend as residential trainees. They can be
dropped off at 10am
on the first Monday morning, and picked up at
6pm
on the Friday afternoon. Between those times, they will be lodged locally,
transported to and from the ski slope each day, and supervised at all times.
They will be provided with breakfast, lunch and dinner each day.
