Snowlife.org.uk report that Sports Minister, Rt Hon Richard Caborn MP, has given his support to the SnOasis indoor snow centre in England, claiming that the winter sports leisure resort will be Œa real asset to the country‚s pool of sports and leisure facilities‚. The Sports Minister joins the numerous organisations and individuals, including the British Olympic Association and Visit Britain, who have already backed the privately funded project.

In a letter to the developer, Onslow Suffolk, the Minister praises the scheme and acknowledges that it would be a significant boost to the region‚s economy. His letter goes on to say (SnOasis) would provide a winter sports centre of excellence for people in the local community, athletes and young people with the potential to become international and Olympic competitors.‚

The letter concludes by saying, The fact that the project has already received support from a wide range of Winter Sports training organisations and from the British Olympic Association indicates that, should the project proceed, it will be a real asset to the country‚s pool of sports and leisure facilities and in helping to meet the Government‚s aims for achieving both healthier and more active nation and world class success.‚

Commenting on the Minister's support, Godfrey Spanner, Managing Director of Onslow Suffolk said: ŒWe are delighted that the government recognises that SnOasis will be a major asset for the nation and will help us achieve sporting excellence. His support adds further weight to the overwhelming and compelling case for SnOasis to be made a reality.‚

The SnOasis project is wholly privately funded and will not require any financial support from the Government. A planning application for SnOasis has been submitted to Mid Suffolk District Council and it is expected to be considered by their planning committee later this year.
