Quotas for the Olympic Winter Games Vancouver 2010 published

The Quotas for the Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver that have been calculated according to the Qualification System (for more information, click here) have been published and the next steps in the process are as follows:

Following the NOC confirmation to FIS of the use of allocated quota places by 25th January 2010, quota places that are not taken up will be re-allocated by FIS, from 26.01.2010 to 28.01.2010, to the next eligible NOC figuring after the last allocated quota place on the FIS points allocation list.

The list of re-allocated quota places will be based on the same FIS points allocation list used for the calculation of the quotas (i.e. status at 18.01.2010)."

It is the responsibility of the National Olympic Committees (NOCs) - National Ski Associations (NSAs) to confirm the use of their allocated quota to FIS by 25th January 2010, respectively to return any unused quota places.

NOCs - NSAs that wish to accept re-allocated quotas are requested to communicate this in writing to FIS (cattaneo(at)fisski.com - defago(at)fisski.com) by 24th January 2010. Alternatively if NOCs - NSAs that have already decided not to take up re-allocated quotas are also requested to advise FIS in writing (cattaneo(at)fisski.com - defago(at)fisski.com) by 24th January 2010.

Please note that if quota places are not returned and ultimately not used by the NOCs, the IOC via Vanoc, will not extend an accreditation to any officials that are over-quota as a result of the number of athletes not fulfilling the requirement for the NOC quota of officials. The Rule 39 of the Olympic Charter will be strictly followed.
