Others to make an attendance included Klaus Kroell and Didier Cuche … Finlay Mickel’s son made his World Championship debut at Val d’Isere skiing between his father’s legs on the nursery slopes as Daddy started his comeback … The global financial crisis is hitting skiing as the Italians team is still struggling financially according to Max Blardone … Hermann Maier is keeping tight lipped over whether he will keep on racing until the Olympics, Bode Miller took the last three weekends of the World Cup off to spend time with his young daughter but this fuelled rumours he will not be racing next season … The biggest cheer at Kitzbuehel this year was not for Hermann Maier but Iranian Hossein Kalhor in making it down the slalom first run, this was the first time an Iranian had raced in the World Cup … Hermann Maier joked with the Austrian Press after Michael Walchhofer had had a second go down the World Championship Downhill: “Thanks to Michael we will race downhills in two legs from now on!” … Julien Lizeroux’s mother had to be told by Kilian Albrecht that her son had won the Kitzbuehel Slalom as she could not believe it – it was the first time she had been to watch her son race in the World Cup … Felix Neureuther who won the Moscow duel slalom on January 2, had to nudge the post race interviewer in Adelboden that it was him not his father that was being interviewed. Patrick Thaler had the same effect in Kitzbuehel with another interviewer… Which coach managed to cause problems at the English Championships by picking up the wrong set of bibs? … Summer love is alove and well with cross UK relationships springing up all over the place! … Christoph Gruber changed skis and boots just ten days before the World Championship Downhill, the Austrian moved onto Head …
