Men's World Cup Downhillers to auction Kitzbuehel downhill bibs
The International Athletes group on the Men's World Cup speed programme held their regular meetings with FIS in Kitzbuehel and approached FIS about doing something for the victims of the recent Haiti earthquake. The group lead by Norwegian Aksel Lund Svindal, have agreed with the Kitzbuehel Ski Club that ALL the racers will after their run take off their bib, sign it and hand it over to be auctioned off.
Talking to the team captains and managers at the second managers meeting in Kitzbuehel, Svindal told them that "we want all the bibs," and urged those present to go back to their teams and tell them what was happening. After the racers had left the podium, Guenther Hujara, race director for the Men's World Cup added his thoughts "We think this is a very good idea."
