Wengen devoid of British racers, Thorburn strikes top 20 in EC race
Neither Dougie Crawford nor Ed Drake made the trip to Wengen this year. Ed is still on the recovery programme following his illness before Christmas and Dougie took the opportunity to try and better his FIS points in the Europa Cup races in Innsbruck. With Olympic qualification still very important for Crawford, he went to Innsbruck to try and secure a top twenty result that would confirm his ticket to Vancouver.
Crawford finished 27th in both races scoring two solid 33 point results.
In Caspoggio, Pam Thorburn edged closer to making her dream come true and qualifying for the Olympics by placing 20th in the Super G part of the Super Combined EC race. It is unsure at the moment whether this result will secure her ticket to Vancouver. Harriet Steggles also made her EC debut in the same race.
