SECURITY TAGS REUNITE OWNERS WITH LOST PROPERTY
Online lost property specialist, Loseitback.com (http://www.loseitback.com), is launching retail packs of tagging devices which can be attached to portable possessions such as mobile phones, keys, cameras and iPods, specifically to increase the likelihood of getting items back to their rightful owner when lost. The tags include a freephone number for the finder to locate the original keeper and claim a reward for their honesty.
The service is aimed at individuals, insurance companies, retailing and charity organisations. The tracking devices, named as one of the top five most innovative products of the year by Yahoo.com in 2006, come in key fob or adhesive label form and can be purchased online for as little as £2.99.
Intended as an additional insurance measure, the tags are particularly useful when even monetary gain from a claim could not compensate for the possessions lost, such as photographs, personal data and items of sentimental value.
Loseitback.com operates a round the clock, seven days a week service so that arrangements for the missing item to be returned can be made easily and quickly. A £10 fee plus delivery cost is charged to the original owner for the safe return of the item and the finder is issued with a thank you letter and gift pack. There is also an option for the owner to add a financial reward to the package.
David Hicks, director of Loseitback.com owner Hicks Associates, says: “Loseitback.com is about reuniting people with their property, not replacing it. Some things, even when insured, are irreplaceable and if a claim is made it’s likely to incur an excess charge. How do you put a price on a contacts database or pictures of the grandchildren stored on a mobile phone? A lost key is useless to the finder but vital to the person who has lost it.”
