Sunday dawned and the weather was again being kind to the Celtic Cup. Slightly warmer but still with great atmosphere, the second round of the racing in the Celtic Cup was as highly charged as the first. After her resounding win in the first race, Jayme Baggio was not going to go slowly for the rest to catch her. Rachel Adcock was closer on the first run than she had been on the first run the day before yet still could not quite match Baggio. With Alice Thelwell crashing out on the first run, best of the rest saw a fight between Christina Pennock, Lauren Cadman and Rowan Vernon. These five took the top five slots with Rowan Vernon coming out with third place overall. Jeni Thomas took top spoils and home pride in the Children 1 age group and also took a very creditable 14th overall place. Baggio not only took the overall win but the top Children 2 result as well. The Junior 1 age group was won by Lauren Cadman in fourth overall with Rachel Adcock taking the Junior 2 age group. Kirsty Stevens made it two wins in the Senior Age group for the weekend. The expected challenge of Shanna Prince failed to materialise for the second day in a row as she crashed out mid way down the finish pitch. Another of the top seeds to have a miserable weekend was Anouska Callander who came to grief on the first run as well. The Men's race was one of the most exciting races seen for a long time in the Celtic Cup. Rather than walking away with a second race win, Hunt had pressure exerted on him by Antony Heaversedge who managed to put a first run together that was just a mere 0.05seconds behind Hunt's time. While Heaversedge has pulled off fantastic runs in the past, time would tell whether he could put two runs together to really pressure Hunt! The first run saw Heaversedge just trail Hunt with Telling picking up the remains ahead of a host of others including: Jai Geyer, David Hatcher, Benn Hall and Matthew Bradley. Just behind these racers was Mikey Thelwell. It was Thelwell who caught the eye on the second run as he tore into the second run and produced a fantastic run that pulled him right up the results list to place 6th at the end. Benn Hall took fifth with David Hatcher in 4th and Jai Geyer in third. Marc Telling took second as Antony Heaversedge was unable to recapture the form shown in the first run and straddled a gate three gates from home. This gave Hunt a fairly safe run to keep an unbeaten weekend intact! The men's age groups were won by Jake Williams in Children 1, Mikey Thelwell in Children 2, Jai Geyer in Junior 1, Matthew Bradley in Junior 2, Georgie Hunt in the Senior age group with Rob Hales taking the masters victory in 12th place overall. Stephanie Davies made it two wins out of two in winning the Mini Girls race ahead of Sarah Lamden and Sam Maurice. Ashley Breese took top spot in the Boys race with Mikey Knowles and James Davies taking second and third.
