Base Camp Group launches new adventure brand
Base Camp Group, the winter training specialist, has launched both a watersport and adrenaline sport training division to add to their newly-expanding network of instructor courses. Waterskiing and surfing in Cornwall; scuba diving, windsurfing and kitesurfing in Egypt; as well as skydiving and parajetting in Spain are now all available as instructor courses and performance camps, in addition to the well established ski and snowboard courses.
The expansion into water and adrenaline sports has resulted from the huge success of the winter sports programme, as well as the growing popularity and demand for skills in adventure sport.
Base Camp's ethos focuses strongly on lifestyle, educational and vocational experiences, with a passion for adventure, travel and the mountains. Base Camp prides itself on value for money and works with world class coaches to deliver professionally run training programmes that are ideal for those on a gap year, career break or looking for a fast track into the industry.
Fergie Miller, Director, Base Camp Group commented: “The expansion into the watersport and adrenaline courses is a result of the increasing demand from our clients and the ever-growing trend towards gaining experience in the adventure field. Many employers, especially in the City, are now looking for potential applicants to have active pursuits and experience in life. Taking one of our courses during a gap year or a sabbatical is the ideal opportunity to gain such an activity and is a great experience to have.”
Miller continued: “This is an extremely exciting time for us and we’re looking forward to developing our courses further in the future.”
The new watersport and adrenaline instructor courses now available are: Waterskiing in Cornwall v An intensive course that explores the world of waterskiing, offering the chance to gain the Ski Boat Driver Award and First Aid certificate at the same time as the British Waterski Instructor qualification. Scuba Diving in Egypt v The programmes include various PADI modules and clients can obtain the Emergency First Response & Rescue Diver courses and Divemaster certifications. Courses run from 3 – 8 weeks. Windsurfing v Base Camp has teamed up with the legendary Rob Horne windsurf clinics to offer the ultimate in windsurf improvement. Coaching takes place over 2 – 6 weeks. Kitesurfing v The courses develop rider performance and take students up to and through the IKO Assistant Instructor and Instructor examinations. A First Aid certificate, CPR diploma, and Ski Boat Driver are also included. Surfing v Suitable for all levels, a surfing camp offers a real opportunity to improve with individual feedback and instruction. Skydiving v Adrenaline heaven. The Accelerated Free Fall Course is a progressive fast track training programme that takes pupils from beginner to qualified skydiver in as little as 7 days. The course ends with a solo exit from 5,000 feet. Parajetting v The intensive courses teach pupils how to fly microlight aircraft and are run in conjunction with the British Microlight Aircraft Association (BMAA) following their FLM (Foot Launch Microlight) course.
Base Camp Group also offers ski and snowboard instructor courses that range from 1 – 11 weeks throughout Europe, Canada and New Zealand.
