Victory for the Canadians in the Opening Ski Cross World Cup races
It was a double win for the Canadian Team in the opening FIS World Cup Ski Cross races in San Candido, Italy. Brady Leman won the Men’s Grand Final beating Egor Korotkov from Russia, fellow Canadian David Duncan and France’s Sylvain Miaillier. Defending World Cup Champion Andy Matt had to be content with finishing last in the B Final behind Tomas Kraus from the Czech Republic. Britain’s Pete Whelan failed to make it out of the qualifying round finishing in 62nd spot.
In the girl’s race, fastest qualifier Kelsey Serwa from Canada took the win ahead of Swiss racer Sanna Luedi and Marielle Thompson and Swiss racer Fanny Smith. Third fastest qualifier and one of the top names in the sport, Ophelie David crashed out in the first knock out round after having qualified third fastest. Britain’s Emily Sarsfield finished qualifying in 30th spot after making a big mistake at the bottom.
