Worley wins after Goergl crashes

Tessa Worley won her first race of the season after first run leader, Lizzi Goergl crashed on the second run of the Giant Slalom in Kranjska Gora. While the girls have not raced in the Slovenian resort since 2007, this is a hill that the men use on a regular basis. Ted Ligety is a frequent visitor to the podium in the Giant Slalom there. Federica Brignone and Viktoria Regensburg joined the French girl on the podium.

While the course was 100m lower than from where the men start from this was still a hard and tough race hill. “I like the tough conditions,” said race winner Worley. Worley was not the only racer to like the tough conditions and along with the appreciative and supportive crowd, this was a race that drew the crowds in. When Tina Maze was on course, the roar was deafening! They like their ski racing in Kranjska Gora and like it even more when one of their own is doing well!

Lindsey Vonn skied well yet felt that she had lost some time near the bottom as she took fourth, just ahead of Maze and with Maria Hoefl-Riesch in sixth. Vonn still leads the overall while Rebensburg leads the GS standings.
