Daniel Albrecht joins the speedoholics at HEAD: „I want to win
races!“
HEAD
are delighted to announce that 28 year old Swiss all round Alpine
ski racer has joined the brand on a one year contract for the 2011 –
2012 alpine ski racing season.
Albrecht has taken the decision to use most successful brand
of ski from the 2010 – 2011 season as he looks to recapture the form
that he showed earlier in his illustrious career.
Albrecht is a
proven race winner with four World Cup wins to his name (three in
Giant Slalom and one in Super Combined) as well as the Gold in the
World Championships in the Super Combined in 2007, that same year he
won the silver in the Giant Slalom.
As one of the best racers in the world, what does Albrecht expect
from working with HEAD? "HEAD
should be there for me. I felt the atmosphere in the HEAD team is
very special and good and everyone seems to feel good there. Further
I want to be successful and of course being happy and satisfied.“
How much did the success of team mate Didier Cuche affect his
decision to join the HEAD Speedoholics?
“Of course this is something that I noticed, but I never talked to
Didier about this. But of course I know that his success is also a
big contribution to the HEAD team that help HEAD develop the best
possible products and I’m sure that I will take advantage of working
with him as long as he’s still skiing in the World Cup.“
In the last year
Albrecht has proved that he has what it takes to race at the top
level and in his first race back after his accident in Kitzbuehel
scored World Cup points in the Giant Slalom at Beaver Creek in
December 2010. More World Cup points were made in Adelboden and the
man from the Valais in
What are Albrecht‘s goals and expectations for his future in the
World Cup?
“I
have high goals and expectations. They’re as high that no one except
me can believe they’re going to come true. My primary goal is to
come back to where I was and I believe that the first step towards
that goal is made by working with HEAD now. At the end of the day I
just want to win races like any other racers wants!“
The new season
will be a defining season for Albrecht according to Rainer
Salzgeber, Racing Team Manager for HEAD: “It is a special situation
we are facing here as Daniel was one of the great athletes before
his crash in Kitzbuehel (in January 2009). I still believe he is one
of the top racers in ski racing.” The one year deal will see
Albrecht use the full HEAD package across the full range of
disciplines. “We are
very happy to find the best set up for him so that he can get back
to where he was before. The upcoming season is a defining season for
his career and we are very happy to be a part of this; we are
looking forward to working with Daniel for many years to come as we
believe he still has his best days to come,” continued Salzgeber.
Albrecht joins
Didier Cuche (Downhill Crystal Globe winner in 2011) and Ted Ligety
(Giant Slalom Crystal Globe winner) as well as World Cup race
winners and podium winners Aksel Lund Svindal, Bode Miller, Werner
Heel, Stephan Keppler and Kjetil Jansrud on the Men’s World Cup tour
for 2011 – 2012 on HEAD skis and boots.
