Regional schools ski race and inter-regional ski racing

This weekend Central England Snowsports Association held their annual regional schools race, sponsored by Decathlon, at Telford Ski Centre.

The race drew school teams from the north and south of the region with the fastest overall boys team coming from Princethorpe College, near Rugby, and the fastest overall girls team coming from Solihull School.  Fastest overall male was Alasdair Thorley from Heart of England School in Balsall Common and the fastest overall female was Charlotte Shrimpton from Bridgnorth Endowed School in Shropshire.  It was a good evening of racing with lots of prizes kindly provided by Decathlon.

The next schools race will be the English Schools Ski Association regional qualifier at Stoke Ski Centre on Saturday 17 September.  Further information about school skiing can be found on the ESSKIA or Central England Snowsports Association websites.

Also taking place this weekend was the SnowSport England inter-regional race at Gloucester Ski Centre and Central England region performed strongly again this year.  Racers in teams of 7 from the eight SnowSport England regions and from Wales thundered down the slope in fierce head to head racing.  This is a real adrenalin fuelled event.  Central England was able to field 3 strong teams and came third in the knock outs.
