Defago takes Gold with Svindal and Miller on Podium
Didier Defago realized his childhood dream in winning the Blue
ribbon event of the 2010 Winter Olympic Games. In one of the closest
and most exhilarating races seen for many a year, Defago held his
nerve to snatch the Gold from Norwegian Aksel Lund Svindal with
American, Bode Miller in the bronze position, a mere 12 hundredths
behind the Swiss racer. For the first time since Lillehammer in
1994, Austria finished without a medal in the Men’s Downhill, Mario
Scheiber finishing in the worst position, fourth, being their best
result.
